I'd taken a bit of a break from fantasy for a bit, and this was my first book back in my beloved genre in a while, and oh, I'm so glad it was this one.
An epic fantasy filled with monsters and heroes (sometimes which was which depended on the chapter), magic, phenomenal world-building, enemies to lovers, all of the good things I look for and then some.
This world and the magic system seeped into my veins, drawing me into this tale that was nail-biting one moment and swoon-worthy the next.
I had such a good time reading this book; even when our characters were being bad, I found myself rooting for them; I honestly can't wait to see what happens in book two.
Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit Books for providing an advance copy of this e-book; I have voluntarily read and reviewed it, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
