When I first read the blurb on this one I thought it was going to be another Inheritance Games type of book, I was wrong, very very wrong.
This book is dark, sinister, and the thing nightmares are made of, the thing that makes you hear every little noise and jump at every shadow.
Helen doesn't know much about her mother's family or where they come from, what she does know is that her mom is scared of going back for so many reasons, most of which Helen has no idea of.
Helen finds herself poised to inherit a castle like mansion that is more labyrinth than home and a staggering amount of money if she can survive a year at Harrow, the "house" her mom grew up in.
This story has generations of secrets, scandals, and hidden bodies, a love that overcomes life and death, and everything that makes you stay up until 4 in the morning because you just have to finish it.
All in all, I loved it, it's perfect for a spooky fall read and I might just add it to my yearly fall reads list.
This is seriously a 4.5-star book and I can't say enough about how good it is.
