Reading this book made me think about what must be every parent's worst nightmare, not knowing where their child is.
Charlie and Eva have been traveling the country for two years becoming Instagram famous along the way but now Eva is a Senior in high school and while Eva is ready to be a normal teenager, Charlie wants one last summer on the road.
After one hellacious argument where neither of them seem willing to bend Eva comes down the next morning and wants to go out on the water, Charlie thinking everything is fin agrees.
What happens after that is a nightmare for Charlie, imagine waking up and your daughter is gone, missing from a boat that's been floating in the middle of Lake Superior.
After Charlie becomes the prime suspect in Eva's disappearance we find out that there was so much she didn't know about Eva, from friends to a boyfriend, to college plans and it takes this story on a completely unexpected turn.
I enjoyed this book, watching the plot unfold, the way the author gave us little nuggets of information, and the dual point of view was all well done. The ending though, I wanted more from The Gates, and that family, there's so much implied that I just wanted to see more of how and why they got to where they were.
Thank you to Edelweiss Plus and Atria Books for providing an advance copy of this E-Book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own,
