If you're looking for a fun, witty, well written paranormal romance then you're found it. This book had just the right amount of spice to make it truly story driven which I loved,
The relationship between Violet and her family had me laughing at times and wanting to cry for them at others. Imagine being the only witch in a family of witches with no power, that's where Violet Maxwell finds herself, she's come to terms with her past, and the term Magicless Maxwell doesn't bother her all that much as long as she has the love of her sisters and grandmother, which she does, unconditionally.
So, imagine her surprise when she starts feeling things, magical things but only when her emotions are being pushed, both good and bad. Personally, I found angry Violet my favorite Violet, when she looses her temper, well just watch out.
Lincoln Thorne is an alpha male, no really an Alpha as in alpha werewolf of North America and the man that broke Violets heart and her ability to love. If only he could tell her what happened that night, but he can't, he has to try to win her trust without answers to the questions that have haunted her for years,
Then there's the matter of his impending mating, yep, archaic rules that say he has to claim a mate by his next birthday which just happens to be soon, really soon. At the same time Violet is realizing that even though she thought she has some hard choices to make of her own. So, what are these two with an unfinished story supposed to do? Fake date of course, sounded perfectly logical so why do their darn emotions keep getting in the way and will they really fall in love or will they go their separate ways again.
Even with the dating being fake in the beginning it didn't take long for Violet and her family to realize that Lincoln brought out the best in her, and her magic as a bonus but are there too many unanswered questions? Too many nights spent crying? Only time will tell for these two and if they can sort themselves out there's hope for the future that's in the best interest of everyone involved in this magical community.
From a virginal succubus, to an actual guardian angel, I loved that this book explored all areas of the supernatural world, it made for well rounded world building and character development that leads readers on a journey they feel like they're part of and to me that's the mark of a great book.
The narrator was fantastic, she really seemed to get the personality of the characters into her voice, which Is a true talent and something I really enjoy, I could almost see facial expressions just based off of the tone of her voice, I'll be looking for more that she lends her voice to.
